Booking Hotels In Europe?
I am traveling to Europe for couple weeks and want to ask for people who had traveled to Europe in the past, which websites you had used or other methods you had used in booking your hotels for the best deals you would wish to share. Thanks

booking.com was very useful when booking hotels, you can sort it by single or double occupancy, star rating, or location. If your not to worried about the accommodation side of things, hostelbookers.com is useful for cheap accommodation (just read the reviews). If you can get your hands on Europe on Shoestring, they have list of good location hotels/hostels in each country. Happy travels

Please let me know places to visit in europe, starting from Amsterdam, for a 1 week trip in October last week?
The trip would probably begin and end in Amsterdam. I would like to travel to Switzerland/pragues etc. Will one visa do for whole of europe. Where to find the best deals of hotels?

Do not overfill your travels. A week is rather short to do more than two cities. Whether you need visa depends on where you come from and where you want to go to, here you can find if you need one: http://skyteam.com/EN/travelPlanner/timatic/index.jsp If you want to see some contrasts, go to a town and a village (or two,) Paris or Cologne are easier to reach from Amsterdam, do not forget it also takes time to travel from one country/town to an other. Here are two train travel planners: http://www.ns.nl/servlet/Satellite?cid=1083234338201&pagename=www.ns.nl%2FPlanner%2Fplannerplus2stap&p=1083234338201&lang=en http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/fares_schedules/index.htm These will give you an impression how long the travel will take by train. Flying mostly costs about half a day, unless you have an early afternoon flight, in that case most of your day will be lost. (That is the time it takes to get to the airport, check-in, safety and the 30 minutes you have to be at the gate before boarding, flying time, passport controlle, waiting for your luggage, time to travel to town.) If you have not been to Europe before, consider one of the Belgium, smaller Dutch, German or Northern French towns. You can also do one of the Europe in a week tours, prepare not to remember much when you are back home again, make a lot of pictures, as you will 'see' 3 towns in a day, one day for Paris. Added: Each country in Europe speaks its own language but in most English is widely spoken, if as second or third language. For hotels, you can google 'cheap hotel' and the name of the town you want to go to, or you can buy a good guidebook, I prefer the Lonely Planet series, they list hostels and hotels, with prices and quality warnings where needed.

Best time to fly from Los Angeles to Europe?
A few friends and I want to travel to Europe this summer. We want to visit France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and the UK. Any advice on when it would be the cheapest to fly into Europe & which airport to fly into? Advice on websites to book cheap flights to and between countries in Europe as well as hotel deals are welcome as well. In fact, any euro travel advice are welcome.. we're newbies! THANKS

Summer isn't the cheapest season to fly to Europe. You can check sites like Kayak for airfares: http://www.kayak.com/ . When I've flown between LA and Europe, the cheapest flight was direct to Zurich, but that's not always the case. These are a couple of good sites for budget airfares in Europe: http://www.skyscanner.net/ , http://www.whichbudget.com/ I use this site for hotels in most of Europe: http://www.venere.com/ or for hostels: http://www.hostelbookers.com/ This is an excellent resource for train information: http://www.seat61.com/ including links to the various national train websites and information on rail passes. This site might also be useful: http://www.backpackeurope.com/tips/

Is this a good deal for a tour ot Europe?
$2800. That includes roundtrip flights from Alaska to Europe. Hotels, Daily Breakfast, and of course, the actual tour itself (8 days). What say you?

It depends on the details of the tour. You could probably do the same trip on your own for less, but then you have a lot more work to do and don't have the guide. You can check the going rate for airfares yourself on sites like http://www.kayak.com/ . It depends on exactly where and when you go, but $1000 and up wouldn't be a surprise. I generally spend around 100 to 150 euro ($143 to $214) a night on hotels when I'm out exploring here in Europe - but it's hard to compare without knowing where you'll be or the specfic hotels. This doesn't seem out of line in general. for an escorted tour
